Your mission isn't about doing or saying the perfect thing - it is about making a profoundly difficult experience easier simply by being a calm\, reassuring presence in the room.\nThe impact our Vigil Volunteers have on patients and families during these sacred moments is truly indescribable.\nHow the Vigil Program Works\nBecause the timeline of transitioning is unique for everyone\, this role operates on an on-call\, as-needed basis:\nLocalization: You will be notified specifically when a patient residing in your local area is actively dying.\nFlexible Availability: Once notified\, you will be asked if you are available to step in for a 2-hour or 4-hour shift to keep the patient company.\nAround-the-Clock Support: Shifts are coordinated to ensure continuous\, bedside companionship during the patient's final hours.\nA Unique\, Step-by-Step Path to Serving\nDue to the immense importance of this commitment\, it is essential that our Vigil Volunteers are deeply reliable and fully understand the physical and emotional nuances of the dying process.
