DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Gentiva Hospice-Newport News VA\n\nVeteran Companionship volunteers are needed to visit with and enrich the quality of life for fellow Veteran patients with a life-shortening diagnosis who are receiving hospice care. This program allows volunteers to be matched once on one with another veteran patient. The volunteers can also set their own schedule that is convenient for both parties. Typically\, a volunteer would make a companionship visit 2-4 times monthly for approx. 30 minutes to a couple of hours. Additionally\, veteran volunteers may occasionally be called upon to make special "pinning" or "final salute" one time visits to assist in honoring a veteran with a framed certificate and pins.
