DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Gentiva Hospice-Newport News VA\n\nPet therapy and companionship volunteers are needed to visit and enrich the quality of life for patients with a life-shortening diagnosis who are receiving hospice care. This program allows volunteers to be matched one on one with a hospice patient. The volunteer would simply offer companionship/friendship through regular visits with their certified pet. The volunteers can also set their own schedule that is convenient for both parties. Typically\, a volunteer would make a companionship visit 2-4 times monthly for approx. 30 minutes to a couple of hours.
