DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Caring And Sharing Foundation\, Inc.\n\nBrief Organizational Description:\nCARITAS creates a safe space to heal and time to rebuild for those experiencing homelessness or a substance use disorder through our five programs: Emergency Shelter\, The Healing Place\, Works Program\, Recovery Residences\, and Furniture Bank.\nVolunteer Position Description and Purpose:\nHelp sort food donations in the CARITAS kitchens in order to gauge food usability\, organize our storage areas\, and ultimately support the nourishment of our participants. As part of our nourish to flourish initiative\, CARITAS is working towards providing nourishing meals and food education for all participants\, in order to support a holistic approach to the health and wellbeing of participants.\nVolunteer Duties & Responsibilities:\nSort donations by usability\; quality and freshness\, intact packaging\, etc.\nSort donations by type: organize donations into appropriate categories such as produce\, meat\, grain\, etc.\nAs this position involves lifting and moving donations\, we ask that you be able to lift and move up to 20 pound boxes comfortably.
