These patients deeply appreciate the unique bond and understanding that only a fellow service member can offer.Many of our veteran patients enjoy:Reminiscing on the porchSharing stories and camaraderiePlaying cards or pokerSmall talk and companionshipHaving someone read to them (some have vision impairments)Just your presence can bring comfort\, dignity\, and even joy—helping them forget\, if only for a while\, the weight of their illness.Volunteer Requirements:Background checkDrug screenTB testingValid state-issued IDAuto insurance (if you plan to drive)12 hours of annual educationA commitment of just 5 to 6 hours per monthYou can make a powerful difference.
