DESCRIPTION:Hosted by The Greening of Detroit\n\nAre you looking to earn volunteer hours or just get outside and make a difference in Detroit? Volunteer with The Greening of Detroit as a Citizen Forester to plant trees this Fall!\nOver the past 37 years\, The Greening of Detroit has planted more than 177\,000 trees with a lot of help from our volunteers. We also have a group of highly trained volunteers\, Citizen Foresters\, who are responsible for leading groups of up to 20 volunteers on planting days. Citizen Foresters demonstrate best practices for planting a tree and are quality control supervisors and motivational leaders during our tree planting events.\nThis Fall\, we have plantings on most Thursday and Saturday mornings in October and November. You can view our full schedule at greeningofdetroit.com/events.\nResponsibilities:\n- Guide and oversee up to 20 volunteers working in small groups of two or three people.\n- Lead tree planting demonstrations and reinforce quality planting techniques.\n- Keep groups on task by recognizing what needs to be done and delegating responsibilities to others.\n- Promote proper tool usage and safety throughout the planting.\n- Motivate and encourage volunteers to ensure a positive volunteer experience.\nRequired Time Commitment:\n- Attend Citizen Forester Training.\n- Attend at least 3 tree plantings each year in the Fall (September-November) and/or Spring (March-May) planting seasons\, for a total of 12 hours of planting.\nIdeal Candidate:\n- 18 plus years old.\n- Prior experience volunteering in the City of Detroit.\n- Prior experience planting trees or a desire to learn.\n- Interest in working with Detroit residents\, block clubs and community associations.\n- Comfortable performing physical labor outdoors in variable weather conditions.\n- Comfortable speaking in front of large groups\, working with\n\nDetails: https://findyourtwo.org/opp/?id=61619
