EwA fosters scientific contribution and experiential learning through a participatory science program (citizen science) that takes a systems-based approach with a focus on in situ species interactions. Collectively, the program’s projects build a continuous natural history of local habitats.EwA participatory scientists use technology to gather data that addresses key knowledge gaps. They follow rigorous protocols and specialized apps to compile robust information on pollinators and their host plants, arthropod and bird abundance, the timing of plant and animal life events, invasive species, indicators of habitat degradation, and more.
