About this opportunity

Join Indian River County Parks, Recreation & Conservation and Coastal Connections for the 2026 International Coastal Cleanup at Round Island Riverside Park.
Volunteers will help remove litter and debris from the shoreline, boardwalk, trails, parking areas, and other public-use areas. Participants may also assist with sorting, documenting, or consolidating collected debris as directed by event leaders. This community cleanup will help protect local wildlife, improve the health of the Indian River Lagoon, and maintain a clean and welcoming public park.
The cleanup will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Volunteers should arrive approximately 15 minutes early for check-in, assignments, and a brief safety orientation.
Cleanup supplies will be provided. Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and work gloves if available. The event will take place outdoors and may involve walking on uneven, sandy, wet, or vegetated surfaces.
Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. Pets are not permitted in the park.
Questions may be directed to Robert Catapano, Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator, at rcatapano@indianriver.gov or (772) 226-1724.

Minimum age: 13.
