Battleship Wisconsin Visitor Operations Volunteer at Nauticus - Ongoing

Nauticus does not accept court-ordered volunteers.
Provide our Nauticus guests with the ultimate experience of the Battleship Wisconsin by:
• Assisting with the opening and closing of the Battleship Wisconsin, greeting and interacting with guests in a friendly manner
• Proactively engaging and presenting accurate historical information that pertains to the Battleship Wisconsin along the interior and exterior of the ship
• Acting as a Lead Tour Guide or Caboose on designated tour routes while addressing needs and navigating potential safety hazards
• Assisting with set up for deck events, walk the decks to perform safety and maintenance checks, and hoisting the jack and signal flags
• Assist with general cleanliness of General Admission areas, policing, dusting and sweeping as necessary.
* Minimum total hours- 50; Maximum total hours- Endless!; shifts are flexible to meet your schedule, weekdays or weekends
Must complete all onboarding steps prior to volunteering with us - City of Norfolk Background Check, Orientation, Volunteer Handbook, Volunteer Agreement Form, Selfie Photo, and Contact Supervisor for first day
• Must enjoy interacting with the general public and be able to address a diverse audience whilst possessing a positive attitude and pleasant demeanor
• Must be able to learn, retain, and present factual information about Battleship Wisconsin while keeping an eye out for safety
• Must possess and project a clear, strong speaking voice
• Ability to carry out assigned tasks with attention to detail under minimal supervision, both interior and exterior of the ship
• Age 16+
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, bend and reach above the head • Walk and climb ladders to upper and lower decks required
