Experience Fall and Give Back in the Adirondacks
♡ SaveAbout this opportunity
Join American Hiking Society for a Volunteer Vacation in New York’s Adirondack Park! Spend a week helping care for trails while experiencing colorful fall foliage, mountain scenery, and the beauty of the Champlain Valley alongside fellow volunteers.
Volunteers will work with Champlain Area Trails to establish and maintain trails by clearing branches, brush, and fallen logs and helping level sections of trail along hillsides. Depending on project needs, volunteers may also help install new bridges and boardwalks.
No previous trail maintenance experience is required. Experienced hosts will provide instruction, tool demonstrations, and project guidance throughout the week. This project is rated moderate, with approximately 6 to 8 hours of physical activity on workdays, plenty of breaks, and opportunities to work at your own pace.
Volunteers will stay together in a rustic bunkhouse with indoor bathrooms, showers, and a kitchen. During free time, explore the Champlain Valley and surrounding Adirondack Park, home to forests, mountains, lakes, scenic drives, historic sites, and beautiful views of Lake Champlain and Vermont’s Green Mountains.
Volunteer Vacations are a chance to experience a new place in a meaningful way, learn new skills, meet fellow volunteers, and make a lasting impact on trails and public lands.
