Senior Firewood Program Volunteer

Description:
Under general supervision and guidance from the Lead Volunteer, SFW volunteers work together to complete the tasks needed to provide firewood to low-income seniors. Safety procedures followed.
Reports to: Lead Volunteer
Hours/Days: 4 hours each morning (8:00 – 12:00) on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday
Duties May Include (based on the tasks of the day):
Picking up donated wood which may include towing ageny and/or personal trailer.
Loading and unloading of donated wood.
Moving and stacking wood.
Assisting in wood cutting and splitting duties.
Keeping equipment clean and maintained.
Clean up slash and load into yard waste containers.
Track mileage and other expenses if requesting reimbursement.
Skills May Include (based on tasks of the day):
Ability to lift and carry firewood.
Experience with chainsaws.
Experience with splitters or willing to learn.
Able to read and interpret written instructions and maps.
Good verbal communications skills.
Ability to follow instructions.

Physically able to lit and carry firewood
Compasion for seniors and a desire to help others
DMV driving record printout (for picking up and delivering wood)
Current and valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance (for picking up and delivering wood)
Drivers are eligible for mileage reimbursement under the program if interested
