Fairfield Warehouse: Food Sort (Oct-2026)

Warehouse volunteers sort and box food donations and box or bag fresh produce. Working as a team volunteers check food for quality, sort by category, and box or bag for distribution in our warehouse sorting areas. This position does require frequent standing, bending, and the ability to lift during this volunteer opportunity.
All volunteers must be scheduled.
Masks are optional for all volunteer shifts.
If you sign up for a shift that you cannot attend, please log into your account and remove yourself so that someone else can sign up to help us.
This volunteer opportunity is open to Groups such as corporate groups, youth clubs, schools and any other community or religious organizations. Please submit a Group Request Form to schedule.
All volunteers must wear a nametag and closed-toed shoes.
The warehouse temperature can vary so volunteers should dress accordingly; we recommend volunteers dress in layers.
Volunteers may be asked to stand, bend, and lift food boxes and bags.
Individuals needing court-ordered community service MUST complete the court-ordered community service request online and be accepted prior to signing up for a shift.
Minimum age: 11.
About Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano
We distribute food into the community by operating our own free food programs each week within Contra Costa and Solano counties and by partnering with 260 local nonprofit agencies to support their hunger-fighting efforts.The work volunteers put in annually is equivalent to 50 full-time employees; they are the heart of our organization and we couldn’t do it without them.
