Local History Preservation Projects

Help preserve Contra Costa County history! Do you enjoy local history? Do you enjoy discovering new tidbits about the people and places of a different era? Or perhaps you enjoy assisting others with their research. If one or all of these sound interesting to you, please join us at the Contra Costa County Historical Society. The amount of time you donate is up to you. The History Center operating hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 9am - 4pm and the 1st and 3rd Saturday from 10am - 2pm.
We have the need for the following:
- Archival Aide: Help in archiving of our vast collection of the County’s historical records.
- Historical Preservation Aide: Scan and catalog historical charts, maps, and other documents.
- Photographic Assistant: Scan and catalog historical photographs.
- Research Aide: Help our visitors conduct research into family histories, immigration records, property records, and everything else associated with the history of Contra Costa County.
- Membership Aide: assist the Membership Committee in their efforts to recognize, retain and recruit new members.
- Administrative Assistant: Assist the Executive Director with general administrative office duties.
- Computer Technician: Help with our computer network and website.
- Additional positions: Data Entry, Docent, Event Planning and Social Media The mission of the Contra Costa County Historical Society is to preserve, protect, and provide public access to the records and heritage of Contra Costa County. The Contra Costa County Historical Society was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit educational organization in 1951 and incorporated in 1972 for the purpose of discovering, preserving, and sharing knowledge about the history of Contra Costa County.
