More than 47 million individuals, including 9 million children, are food insecure in the United States. At the same time, 40% of food in the food system is WASTED!The need for our work has never been more vital.Food Rescue US is dedicated to eliminating hunger and food waste (keeping food out of landfills and reducing greenhouse gasses). We engage volunteers and food donors through our proprietary web-based app to directly transfer nutritious excess food to social service agencies serving the food insecure. Food Rescue US is a national organization with 45+ sites across 24 states and DC.Food Rescue US volunteers choose the rescue that fits their schedule and their car size and transports donated food from our donors to a local social service agency. This is all done using our software; our goal is to make it as easy and flexible as possible. Rescues are designed to take an hour or less and there is no minimum commitment when someone registers as a rescuer.The process of food rescuing is quick, simple and extremely rewarding.
