Miniature Therapy Horses

Mini's from Heaven a 501 (c) 3 non profit offers volunteers a little hard work and more joy than one can imagine. Join our team of handler's as we take miniature therapy horses to visit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, schools, etc. We also partner with the LMPD to provide the Just Say Whoa(r) to Bullying program to area schools.If you love horses and people, this is the opportunity for you. Our volunteers are each trained to perform all of the basics of caring for and handling miniature therapy horses. They feed, groom, bathe, condition, and continually train with the mini's on their scheduled day throughout their service with us. Volunteers will train for one of two different positions and will then volunteer to be scheduled to accompany our team on visits once training is completed. This opportunity will work with anyone's schedule. Our initial training schedule requires a 1 to 2 hour commitment 1 day per week for 6 - 8 weeks. All volunteer training is provided and no prior experience with horses is required. Training is part seminar style and part hands on training with the horses. Once training is completed volunteers can select any 2 hour time slot on any one weekday or evening to work with the mini's independently. Our therapy visits require a 5 hour commitment and are scheduled on both weekdays. Volunteers are provided with a calendar of upcoming therapy visits and can sign up for those that fit their schedule on a first come, first serve basis. The hard work involved in this opportunity is totally overshadowed by the love that comes from the heart of our miniature therapy horses and the people that they serve. These little horses absolutely love their handlers and they don't care how we look, what kind of car we drive, or what our successes might be.
