House Volunteer

Location Information:Ronald McDonald House on Monument Avenue2330 Monument AveRichmond, VA 23220Volunteer Position Purpose:House volunteers perform a variety of household tasks to ensure that the Ronald McDonald House runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:Completing household chores and light cleaning Receiving and organizing donations of various sizesCleaning and maintaining organization of the pantry Manning front desk as needed Resetting bedrooms when housekeeping is unavailable Other tasks as assigned Assist families as neededQualifications, Skills, & Requirements:Must be 18 years of age or older.Must be friendly, outgoing, and kind with an excellent understanding of and ability to follow professional and personal boundaries. Comfortable volunteering in a potentially emotionally demanding space. Effective communication skills, ability to communicate with adults and children. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Prior experience with children, personally or professionally, preferred.Time Commitment:Volunteers must be able to commit long term (at least 6 months). Volunteers are expected to attend one three-hour shift each week.Other Information:Volunteers must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check.Must be comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time and climbing multiple flights of stairs. Ability to lift/carry items that are at least 25 pounds.Volunteers will be most successful in this role if they can be comfortable during both slow and busy periods.Volunteers will enjoy this role if they prefer to work behind the scenes, don’t mind doing housework like cleaning and changing bed sheets, and take initiative to find tasks that need to be done.How to get involved:Individuals interested in becoming
