Drop Off Sandwiches for Harm Reduction Program

Brief Organizational Description:
CARITAS creates a safe space to heal and time to rebuild for those experiencing homelessness or a substance use disorder through our five programs: Emergency Shelter, The Healing Place, Works Program, Recovery Residences, and Furniture Bank.
Volunteer Position Description and Purpose:
Donate sandwiches to support CARITAS’s partnership with Health Brigade’s Comprehensive Harm Reduction Program. Each Thursday, lunches are distributed alongside access to harm reduction supplies, hygiene items, overdose prevention resources, health care referrals, substance use treatment resources, and other community services.
Volunteer Duties & Responsibilities:
Please prepare approximately 40 sandwiches, individually wrapped.
Some suggestions for sandwiches include: turkey and cheese, chicken salad, or PB&J.
Once assembled, please drop off the sandwiches at the CARITAS Men’s Healing Place and Emergency Shelter (700 Dinwiddie Avenue, Richmond, VA 23224.) on Wednesdays between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Time Commitment:
Sandwiches can be assembled at your convenience and dropped off on Wednesdays between 11am-3pm. This opportunity is completed off-site, and volunteers are responsible for assembling and delivering the sandwiches to 700 Dinwiddie Avenue, Richmond, VA 23224.
