About this opportunity

AAHS desperately needs volunteers who can come into the AAHS office and help with the identification of thousands of aviation photos that have been donated to the society. These photos have been scanned, but need information about the photo to be recorded in the image database. Once trained, this activity can be done remotely, in the comfort of your own home (with a computer and internet access).AAHS also has a 9,000 volume book collection that also needs cataloging into the library collection software. This does not require aviation knowledge, but a love of books and the knowledge this library will be used for researchers and students alike. Our office needs other regular administrative tasks, such as keeping our membership database accurate and answering mail. Finally, we need to bring our old-school organization into the 21st century and start using social media tools, and can use a volunteer to help us understand the best ways to do this (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc). We have many opportunities for absorbing and educational service!1 shift available:11:00 to 15:00 PST

About AMERICAN AVIATION HISTORICAL SOCIETY

AAHS has been in operation since 1956, collecting and preserving aviation photos and written material from members from all over the world. Over two million photos and the collection increases monthly! AAHS publishes a quarterly Journal, (continuously since 1956) regularly named one of the top 100 aviation publications in the US. Much of the image collection is in print form, and needs to be scanned and cataloged, without such action we cannot share them effectively with our members or the public.
