About this opportunity

Do you have a vehicle and time to volunteer? Do you like meeting new people from all over the world? We are looking for volunteer drivers to help us transport our refugee clients to and from medical appointments, the Social Security Office, English classes, Summer Camps, etc. Our clients are dependent upon public and community transportation when they arrive in Knoxville, so volunteers helping them navigate the community makes a definite impact in welcoming them to Knoxville.Transportation needs generally happen on an as-needed basis usually during Bridge office hours, 8:30-5:30 M-F. However, night and weekend opportunities arise!Volunteer Requirements:Complete our Bridge Volunteer PaperworkAttend a Bridge Volunteer Orientation (about 1hr via Zoom)Background check through Sterling Volunteers ($17.50 per person paid to Sterling Volunteers)And, of course, a vehicle! Foreign language skills or experience working with refugee populations not required. If you have additional questions, please reach out to Peter Green, our Volunteer & Co-Sponsorship Manager, via email at pgreen@bridgerefugees.org.
