Give Back and Enjoy Wisconsin Lake Life

Join American Hiking Society for a Volunteer Vacation at Eau Galle Recreation Area in western Wisconsin! Spend a week helping care for trails while enjoying crisp fall weather, beautiful lake views, and time outdoors with fellow volunteers.
Volunteers will help maintain and reroute sections of the Lousy Creek Trail and remove invasive vegetation. This work will help create a safer and more enjoyable trail experience for hikers and horseback riders.
No previous trail maintenance experience is required. Experienced hosts will provide instruction, tool demonstrations, and project guidance throughout the week. This project is rated easy, with volunteers working at their own pace and taking plenty of breaks throughout the day.
Volunteers will camp together at Highland Ridge Campground near the Eau Galle Reservoir, with restroom and shower facilities just a short walk from camp. During free time, enjoy the lake and surrounding recreation area, with opportunities for fishing, canoeing, hiking, relaxing around the campfire, and exploring nearby natural areas.
