Local Non-Profit Board Officer — Treasurer

Vélocity Bicycle Cooperative is seeking a Treasurer — one of the most important seats on our board. New Treasurers begin with a short, guided transition as Deputy Treasurer before stepping into full Officer standing within 60–90 days.
Why This Role Matters
We hear the cycling community has no shortage of accountants and financial advisors who could probably handle this role backwards and blindfolded — and hey, we're not discouraging attempts, as long as the wheels (and the ledger) keep moving forward. The Treasurer is our financial officer, keeping our books, reconciliations, budget, tax filings, and insurance in order so two shops and a warehouse can keep doing what they do best: putting bikes in the hands of people who need them. (This is separate from our Investment Officer role, which manages fund allocation and reserves — you won't be asked to run the portfolio too.) It's precision work, and it's real work — the kind that keeps the whole mission solvent and moving forward.
What You'll Do
Begin as Deputy Treasurer, partnering directly with our current Treasurer, Hanna Do, during an initial 60–90 day transition period to receive a full handoff of financial systems, access, and responsibilities
Maintain the organization's books of account and complete regular bank reconciliations
Support annual budgeting and monitor spending against budget
Coordinate payroll and ensure timely, accurate processing
Oversee tax filings and insurance requirements
Report on financial standing to the Board on a regular basis
What We're Looking For
Background in accounting, bookkeeping, financial management, or a related field strongly preferred
Comfortable with nonprofit financial reporting, or able to learn quickly
High attention to detail and strong ethical judgment in handling organizati
