CENTRAL: A small, energetic community working in English + bilingually to empower our neighbors in Van Nuys through love and grace to be who God has made them to be.Our vision: We want to be people who accept and live in God's grace, who follow Jesus Christ, and who serve others.January 1929 Central was a mission outreach & became a vital part of serving a wide range of needs through the depression and post-war Van Nuys. It flourished in the 50's-70's but lost its connection with mission, so dwindled.NOW, for 15 years, hosted homeless services agencies & opened worship to marginalized folk, experiencing loneliness, disconnectedness, & personal trauma.TODAY: Core of folks serve both persons experiencing poverty & hunger among the housed neighbors + persons experiencing homelessness.Programs:* Mobile Food Pantry -* Basic English Classes (w/childcare);* Women's Empowerment (w/childcare);* Kids Community and Support* Summer kids programs (camp onsite July 2020; Camp opportunities @ mountains late-July 2020)* Faith & spiritual development-all ages*WORSHIP for anyone - no limits.
