Folk Festival Family Area 2026: Building Bonanza!

Come volunteer with the Children’s Museum of Richmond at the Richmond Folk Festival 2026 in the Building Bonanza! Family Area!
CMoR is excited to bring hands-on fun, creativity, and the power of play to this beloved Richmond tradition. Volunteers will help support our construction-themed Family Area by assisting with engaging activities, connecting with children and families, and helping create a welcoming and playful experience for festival guests.
This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with the Richmond community, represent CMoR, and help bring the joy of play beyond our museum walls!
What You’ll Do
Support hands-on activity stations in the Family Area
Help children and families participate in creative activities, including CMoR bag hats, LEGO building, hand painting, sensory experiences, and more
Welcome families and start conversations with festival guests
Explain and demonstrate assigned activities
Encourage children to explore, create, and play
Help keep activity areas organized, stocked, and ready for the next family
Support CMoR staff with keeping activities flowing smoothly
You will be assigned to a specific activity station or area and will work alongside CMoR staff throughout your shift. You do not need to be an expert in the activity — we’ll provide the information and guidance you need to get started!
