VITAS Healthcare wants to enlist your services to care for terminally ill veterans living at home and in nursing homes, assisted living communities and medical centers. VITAS Veteran Volunteers do not need to be U.S. Veterans; you need only the desire to remember; honor and support America’s living heroes.VITAS Healthcare Veteran Volunteers visit terminally ill veterans; assist by shopping and other errands;listen to life stories or record or videotape a veteran’s reminiscences; telephone veterans to ask how they are doing; attend or help plan activities celebrating Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day; educate veteran’s groups about hospice services by speaking at their meetings.VITAS Healthcare Veteran Volunteers who have served in the military themsleves also provide an individual recognition ceremony to every Veteran upon admission to VITAS services. Veteran to Veteran you provide great comfort, validation and a safe ear.

Volunteers are the heart of VITAS Healthcare, providing friendly, non-medical patient and family care and offering support services in our office. VITAS Healthcare is looking for volunteers who are able to share their time with hospice patients living at home, nursing homes or ALF. Hospice volunteers give their time to terminally ill patients and their caregivers during a critical time. In orientation classes they are trained in listening skills, family dynamics and the right words to say to patients and their loved ones at the end of life.VITAS takes pride in its volunteers, and we welcome you to become part of our team.
