About this opportunity

Volunteer as a Conversation Partner during NICE's Community Conversation Class!
Nashville International Center for Empowerment’s mission is to ensure refugees and immigrants achieve their full potential now and for generations to come. Our goal is to empower refugees and immigrants with resources and opportunities that will aid them in their resettlement and equip them to be successful in the future.
About the event:
At the end of every unit, the Adult Education Program hosts a conversation class aimed at providing online students the opportunity to practice English in small groups or one-on-one settings. This is crucial for our students in developing confidence in conversational English.
What will volunteers do?
Each class is facilitated by a trained ESL instructor who will guide volunteers and students through activities and conversation prompts. The class will be held over Zoom and will utilize breakout rooms. Classes can accommodate up to 30 volunteers, so this is a great opportunity for corporate volunteer events or faith community service days.
What will volunteers need to bring or wear?
Our students come from a variety of cultural and religious backgrounds. Out of respect to our students we ask that you dress conservatively. Please avoid spaghetti top tank tops and low cut tops. Do not wear t-shirts that display derogatory language, profanity or nudity.

Minimum age: 14.
