Position & ResponsibilitiesRole SummaryThe Family Law Intern assists Tubmans legal department with projects such as drafting clientcorrespondence, client conflict checks, screening prospective legal clients, and administrative tasks such as data entry, and research.Impact & Benefits Support Tubmans efforts to provide quality legal services to low-income clients Gain experience with clients from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and identities Learn about working within a legal department of a nonprofit social service organizationApply at:https://www.tubman.org/give-help/volunteer-intern/volunteerintern-application.htmlPosition Responsibilities Manage client files by screening clients for legal services, collecting client documentation andproviding appropriate follow-up communication and correspondence Complete administrative tasks as assigned while adhering to organizational policies regardingboundaries, ethics, and confidentiality Communicate and collaborate with staff in the legal department to provide coordinated servicesto clientsQualifications & ExpectationsPosition Qualifications: Demonstrated interest in the dynamics of domestic violence and the impact of trauma Interest in family law and legal systems Excellent writing and communication skills; strong organization and time-management skills;comfortable using the computer and databases Ability to maintain client confidentiality and to refer clients to appropriate resources Ability to work with diverse teams and clients to foster a culturally inclusive environmentTime Commitment & Availability 12-15 hours per week for minimum of 9 months Must have Thursday morning availability to attend team consultation meeting This is a hybrid position with both in-person and remote work Attend Tubmans five-part Volunteer/Intern Or
