Senior Center Member Service

Description:
Under general supervision and guidance from the Senior Center Coordinator, Volunteer will Welcome every visitor warmly and an eagerness to help.
Reports to: Senior Center Coordinator
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30am-12:30pm---12:00pm-4:00pm
Duties:
Guide guests through the process of checking in for programs
Answer questions about programming and provide calendars and menus
Confirm membership status and process payment for programs
Encourage guests to sign up for newsletters and emails
Inform non-members of the benefits of membership and help them become members if they wish
Provide tours to newcomers and introduce them to other members
Answer the phone and provide information as needed
Confirm liability waivers and photo releases for all program attendees
Listen to visitor concerns and issues respectfully, offering solutions when possible, escalating to Senior Center Coordinator when necessary
Skills:
Excellent communication skills in English (Spanish or ASL is a plus)
An outgoing personality and great customer service skills in person and on the phone
Basic computer skills such as reading a spreadsheet or running a credit card charge
Basic cash-handling and transaction-recording skills
Patience with physical and cognitive challenges often associated with age
Ability to sit for the majority of the volunteer shift
Requirements:
Dependable
Some knowledge of and a genuine concern for the physical, mental, and emotional needs of older persons
Complete orientation process
Background check clearance and any mandated trainings
