The position is responsible for providing companionship, transportation assistance, and life enrichment activities, that enable elderly program clients, who are 60 years and older, to live independently in their homes as long as possible. Community Connections is a program of St. Mary's Hospital and Intermountain Healthcare Systems.Basic Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and older to volunteer.Completion of volunteer application & interview.Sucessful completion of appropriate screenin: criminal background and motor vehicle record check.Must have a valid driver's license and proof of car insurance.Completion of program oreintation and overview of the Volunteer Handbook.Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 20 pounds.Maintain client and family confidentiality.Possess the mental, motor, and sensory abilities to derive and function safely.Abide by St. Mary's/Community Connection's policies/procedures and code of conduct.Complete and submit Client Activity Logs and Mileage Sheets monthly.Wear photo ID Badge when serving client.Enjoys interacting with the elderly.Be dependable and responsible.Possess good communication and listening skills.Be empathetic and nonjudgemental.Performance Responsibility:Volunteers have a flexible schedule based on the needs of the client. Services can be provided weekly, biweekly, or monthly. On average volunteers provide 2-3 hours per week. Days and times of service are negotiated between client and volunteer.Attire should be clean and appropriate for duties.Provide requested assistance to clients defined by the Volunteer Service Agreement such as:Transportation to medical appointmentsGroceries and other shoppingErrands and outingsAssist with walking or recreation activitiesIn-home socialization, games, crafts, etc.Bill paying, writing let
