RESTORE HABITAT: Invasive Plant Removal @ Deering

Volunteer with us at the Deering Estate!
The Deering Family represent a key portion of Miami-Dade's history, with the Deering Estate and Vizcaya Museum & Gardens remaining intact for visitors to enjoy and learn about their history. But did you know that that the natural features in or adjacent to the Estate include seven native habitats consisting of rockland hammock, remnant slough, pine rockland, mangroves, beach dune, salt marsh, and submerged aquatic vegetation, and significant archaeological and paleontological sites? These features create a unique opportunity for visitors to experience a microcosm of South Florida ecological and cultural history spanning more than 10,000 years.
In order to preserve precious native habitats, we need volunteers to join us for a day of clearing invasive plants in an area of the estate not widely seen by visitors. Bring your favorite gardening gloves, and hat and join us for a day of preserving our beautiful South Florida.
