Build a Wheelchair Ramp for Seniors!
♡ SaveAbout this opportunity
A woman in Onalaska has mobility issues and cannot safely enter and exit her home. She is in need of a wheelchair ramp to be built so she does not have to use steps, which are a fall risk to her. She is extremely low-income and needs help with an assessment of how much supplies would cost for an ADA accessible ramp to be constructed and then a volunteer to help build the ramp once she is able to procure the supplies. At the moment Volunteer Services does not have any builders in Onalaska, so anyone living around the area or willing to travel is very much needed! Volunteer Services with Catholic Community Services can reimburse for mileage at $0.44/mile and offers extended liability insurance at no cost to the volunteer.
About Catholic Community Services' Volunteer Services
Our program exists as a safety net for low-income elders and people with disabilities (also low-income)by providing them with services that allow them to remain living as independently as possible in their own homes (not assisted living). For example, a 89 year old woman who only collects $600/mo. in Social Security needs help with her lawn. She can't afford to pay someone, and if her lawn goes a couple of months without being mowed, now the lawn is a fire hazard.
