Grief Support Services offers a rewarding opportunity for people to provide compassionate support for grieving children, teens, and adults. Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the team. Volunteers may take on various roles, such as providing phone support. By calling the family members of hospice patients who have passed away, volunteers provide active listening, witness, and warmth as families handle the loss of their loved one. Grief Support staff also need assistance with administrative support ongoing. As current needs often change, we encourage you to reach out and inquire if you are interested in helping with this program.Training and ongoing support are provided by our staff and calls have the potential to be made from our office or remotely.Schedule is flexible and typically volunteers will dedicate a couple of hours on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Providence at Home with Compassus volunteers serve patients and families throughout Thurston, Mason and Lewis Counties, wherever they may call home (private residence, nursing facility, adult family home, etc.). Volunteers play a key role in their own communities providing support and comfort to those who are facing terminal illness.Hospice volunteers provide non-clinical patient care and family support, assist with grief support services, and contribute administrative and operational support.We offer opportunities to gain new skills, uphold client agency and autonomy in pursuit of their goals, and empower you to be an informed advocate.
