About this opportunity

Are you looking for an opportunity to make a positive impact on your community? At the Thurston County Food Bank, our mission is to eliminate hunger within our community, in the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor. We currently provide groceries to about 6,000 families a month throughout Thurston County!Getting all of the food off our shelves and onto the dinner table requires a tremendous amount of labor. That’s where our incredible network of dedicated volunteers comes in. We are always looking for more volunteers to help us receive, process, and distribute food to the hundreds of households we support during our service days.Located at 7027 Martin Way E. Olympia, WA 98516, the Thurston County Food Bank’s Lacey Food Pantry hosts weekly food distribution days every Tuesday and Thursday. Each service day has two different, 3-hour shifts: 9am - 12:30pm & 12pm - 3pm. choose which time and date works best for you! We also have an evening shopping shift for our clients once a month (2 nd Wednesday of each month) where volunteers are needed from 3pm - 6:30pm.Our volunteers:Set up a welcoming, shopping-like experience for our clientsProcess and sort produce, bread, and other foodstuffsStaff stations for food distribution for our clientsClean and organize our working spacePlease begin your journey into volunteering excellence by applying to volunteer! About Thurston County Food Bank

It is the mission of the Thurston County Food Bank to eliminate hunger within our community with a strategy of neighbor helping neighbor. Our service area includes the urban core of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, their surrounding growth areas, under-served parts of Thurston County as well as support to our partners in Lewis, Mason and Kitsap Counties. Our core philosophies are eliminating access barriers, prioritizing health and children, rescuing good food from going to waste and partnership and collaboration. Through our two pantries, downtown Olympia and Lacey, Satellite program partners, Home Delivery to seniors, Mobile program and community collaborations we endeavor to provide healthy and nutritious fresh, frozen and shelf-stable food to those experiencing food insecurity.
