BACKGROUND Every day, Neighborhood House builds community and increases access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunities for low-income, immigrants and refugees across Seattle and King County. Since 1906, Neighborhood House has advanced our mission to partner with individuals and families to build community and increase access to housing, health, education, and economic opportunity. Our programs focus on early childhood education, youth development, employment and adult education, housing assistance, community health, and aging and disability services throughout King County, WA.PROGRAM SCOPEAt Neighborhood House, we have a deep commitment to valuing our employees’, volunteers’, and clients’ diverse experiences and backgrounds, which guide our work for a more equitable future. Neighborhood House’s Youth Engagement Program offers academic assistance, engagement through project based learning and social emotional learning, as well as other supports to youth and their families. We are seeking volunteers to engage with youth in grades K-12 to teach a new skill or activity. Some examples include: If you are passionate about fitness you could teach a series of at-home workouts! If you are a crafter and want to share out how to crochet, we can have a class on that! Professional photographers that can teach youth how to take expert photos with the phone cameras! The possibilities are endless in this remote setting. If reasonable, supplies can be distributed to youth to make sessions interactive.RESPONSIBILITIES·Initial meeting with staff for introductions and program familiarization·Communicating with program staff what your goals are for the session(s) and any materials necessary·Facilitating Zoom session with 5-10+ youth, staff assistance availableTIME COMMITME

About Neighborhood House

Neighborhood House is a nonprofit in Salt Lake City providing daycare and support services for families. We provide naeyc accredited preschool, before/after school programs, summer programs, and adult day care for aging and disabled adults. We offer high quality services on a sliding-fee scale, making our rates affordable for the low-income families in our community.As a nonprofit, we rely on volunteers like you to help us continue our 130 year legacy of providing a caring and supportive environment for our children and adult clients.
