URGENT: Volunteer delivery drivers & kitchen help needed to distribute meals to seniors in our community. Delivery routes & kitchen shifts take just 2-3 hrs in the morning/afternoon. Lunches are distributed in Richmond, El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Oakland, Hayward, and San Leandro using contact-free delivery procedures. If you are available a few hours a day, week or month we want to hear from you.ABOUT USEver wanted to work in a kitchen or learn more about Japanese food? Would you like to deliver nourishing lunches to people who can't shop or cook for themselves anymore? Maybe you are a sociable person who would enjoy visiting or calling a senior weekly.J-Sei is a longstanding nonprofit that offers many rewarding volunteer opportunities. You can be involved periodically or on a consistent ongoing basis. You can bring a smile to seniors by preparing hot lunches, delivering meals to seniors, providing weekly visits to at a senior's home or calling a senior. You will help an older adult stay healthier and happier! We also have office work related to mailings or data entry. Assistance with event planning is appreciated too.Our volunteers and staff are fun and upbeat - we welcome you to join us!
About J-Sei
J-Sei has been the only senior service provider focused on supporting Japanese American elderly in the east bay for the past 43 years. Today, J-Sei continues this rich history of supporting families throughout the community with the mission to promote and nurture Nikkei values with a broader multi-ethnic and multi-generational base. Through our Senior Center, classes and activities, congregate Japanese lunches, lectures and educational presentations our seniors stay actively involved. J-Sei also provides resources to help seniors remain independent for as long as possible in their own homes. These services include bilingual case management services, home-delivered Japanese meals, a pilot transportation program, Friendly Visitor/Friendly Caller programs, a caregiver registry and long term care consulting. J-Sei Home is a licensed residential care facility for the elderly in Hayward that provides warm, supportive and culturally appropriate care to 14 residents.
