♡ SaveAbout this opportunity
Are you a compassionate human? Are you looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity? Would you like to join a community of dedicated, supportive volunteers? Then join us and become a Hospice Volunteer in Alameda County or West Contra Costa County; anywhere from Hercules to Fremont, or Oakland to Livermore. You can be a friendly visitor to someone on our hospice service, or provide a caregiver or a patient's loved one with a break so they can run an errand, or work in our office and help the Sutter Care at Home Hospice office staff in Alameda. Additionally, we are always looking for certified specialists, like massage therapists, Reiki or those that play musical instruments or have registered therapy animals. Volunteering can be as simple as sitting by the bedside, listening with compassion, playing music, reading a book, watching movies, playing card games, looking at old photo albums, and as needed, providing relief for the family members and/or caregivers. Volunteers do not provide clinical or personal care. No experience necessary, and we will provide you with an enriching, online, self-paced training (a combination of self-paced online training and in-person orientation). We also provide an optional, monthly volunteer support meeting with our wonderful community of volunteers. All you need is a willingness to commit your time (about 1- 2 hours per week) and dedication to serving and helping others. You must be 21 years of age or older, have a California ID or drivers license and will need access to transportation to get to patient's homes, assisted living facilities or skilled nursing facilities if you choose to be a patient volunteer. Background checks are required, and some immunizations and a health screening including is provided by Sutter Health. If interested
