The Board of Directors of the Daly City Public Library Associates is a group of volunteers whose purpose is to raise private funds to supplement the public funding of the Daly City library system. Generally, the responsibilities of the Board of Directors include: engaging in activities which promote fundraising in the community; setting policies for the operation of the nonprofit organization; approving the annual operating budget and overseeing its implementation; assisting the organization with its fundraising responsibilities through personal contributions at a level consistent with ability; and serving as an advocate and spokesperson for the organization. Criteria for selection of Board Members will include: a. interested and enthusiastic about public libraries b. knowledgeable (or willing to learn) about the Daly City libraries c. able to participate in the meetings of the Board and its committees d. possess skills in the areas of fundraising, event planning, marketing, financial, legal and/or advocacy arenas.Expectations of Board members include: a. attend monthly meetings of the Board: Third Thursdays, 6:00 – 7:00 pm, Colma Town Hall b. serve on, at least, one committee c. review and approve policy and procedure recommendations of the organization through Board action d. provide fundraising advice and contacts to the extent possible e. help to develop relationships with other organizations and individuals on behalf of DCPLA and the library f. make a personal financial contribution annually g. consider making a planned gift to the DCPLA h. serve as a spokesperson for the DCPLA and libraryTerms:The directors are appointed to three-year terms with 2 terms total. After a 1 year absence, a former director may be reappointed and may serve for no more than 6 additional
