Girls on the Run is a nonprofit after-school program that builds confidence in girls in the 3rd-8th grades. Our program combines physical activity with intentionally designed lessons encouraging mental, social, and emotional development.We are seeking dedicated, enthusiastic volunteers who are committed to empowering girls with valuable life lessons! We'll provide you with training, curriculum, supplies, and co-coaches- everything you'll need to coach a safe, successful season and help girls in your community activate their limitless potential!Coach Responsibilities:Serve as a role model and mentor for the participating girlsPrepare & collaborate with other coaches to facilitate twice-weekly lessonsAttend both weekly practicesCommunicate with parents/guardians of program participants as neededParticipate in the Girls on the Run 5KHave fun motivating girls to become healthy and confident!Training & Onboarding – Start NowTo coach this fall, all new volunteers must:Complete 3 hours of self-paced online trainingAttend one in-person training in August (2 hours)Complete a short list of onboarding requirements such as a fingerprint background check and TB testTime Commitment - Fall SeasonTwo 90-minute practices per week, plus light prep and occasional communicationPlan for about 4–6 total hours/week, including prep and local travelSeason runs September 15 – November 8, ending with a celebratory 5KIf you want to make a positive difference in your community, learn more and fill out our Coach Application at www.gotrbayarea.org/coachIf you have questions about this opportunity or are interested in starting a GOTR program site, please contact our team at coaches@gotrbayarea.org.
About Girls on the Run of the Bay Area
Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is on a mission to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident! We administer non-competitive, curriculum-based running programs in San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Mateo Counties. The 8-week program combines training for a 5K running event with uplifting workouts that encourage emotional, social, and physical development. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society.Founded in 2002 Girls on the Run San Francisco is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Girls on the Run San Francisco is a chapter of Girls on the Run International, which was founded in 1996 and is based in Charlotte, NC. About 2000 girls participate in our local bay area programs each year.
