ALAMEDA COUNTY YOUTH IN FOSTER CARE NEED MENTORS!WHY?Many youth in foster care do not have a trusting, caring adult in their lives that are not part of the system. Statistically the youth are more likely to be more successful academically, socially and mentally.WHO?We want mentors that come from all different backgrounds, ages and genders. We want caring adults are willing to build a caring and non judgmental with a foster youth.WHAT?Mentors spend a minimum of 2 hours per week for A 1 YEAR FIRM COMMITMENT with their mentee. About Be A Mentor, Inc.
The Be A Mentor Program pairs caring adult volunteers from the community with youth in one-to-one relationships. Mentors give of their time to be a friend, answering questions, and providing guidance. Mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and occupations and volunteer their personal time to be a caring friend to a youth. They serve as a role model, advocate, and resource. The purpose of the mentoring relationship is to help youth develop their full potential, both in and outside of the classroom.
