Looking for community service hours? Want to learn new skills? Come volunteer with VITA!For 23 years, the Fremont Family Resource Center's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program has offered free tax preparation services to eligible individuals and families. We'd love for you to join us in helping the community!We're looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:Tax PreparersGreetersSchedulersIntake SpecialistsInterpreters & Translators for: Spanish, Chinese, Dari, Punjabi, American Sign LanguageNo prior experience is needed. Training, materials, and a great team of fellow volunteers are provided! Join us in making a meaningful impact in our community!Our VITA Site will operate Wednesday-Saturday during the 2026 tax filing season. About Fremont Family Resource Center
The Fremont FRC is a collaborative of 25+ City, County, State, and non-profit social service agencies working together under one roof to serve families in Southern Alameda County, including Fremont, Union City, Newark and Hayward. The City of Fremont’s Human Services Department is the lead agency - the FRC Core Team - and provides the key staff who administers the FRC and coordinates the many initiatives underway at the Center.We provide a variety of services to South County residents including:adult and youth employmentadult and youth counselingcase managementchildcare information, referrals and subsidieshousing informationmental health servicespublic benefitshealth insurance counselingnutrition services for mothers and childrenservices for veterans and those with disabilitiesmediation & legal servicesadvocacyfinancial counseling & coaching, asset-building programs; tax preparation servicesworkshops and support groupson-site drop-in childcare.
