Canham Farm Horse Rescue, a horse advocacy non-profit that works locally and nationally to protect horses from abuse (mental and physical), neglect and slaughter, is seeking volunteer leaders to join our dynamic board of directors and spearhead new program initatives.We are looking for applicants with experience in accounting, human resources, legal, media expertise, marketing, as well as those connected to foundations that promote animal advocacy, rescue, foster, adoption and an equine's quality of life should their guardian become unable to care for them due ill-health or a change in circumstances.Board members are actively involved in organizational governance, and are expected to attend at least 5 of the bi-monthly board meetings, participate in at least one board committee, make a personal financial contribution, raise at least $2,500 annually, and manage at least three donor or community partner relationships.Based on our recent review of board connections and life experiences among our current Board members, we are seeking new board members who will add a diversity of skills that will enable us to grow our reach and promote additional programs.The Nominating Committee is accepting applications until April 20, 2025 and those interested in board service can complete an application at https://canhamfarm.com/board-application

About Canham Farm Horse Rescue Inc.

We are looking for people who have knowledge of horses to come and help us care for them at our ranch. Additionally, we need fundraising help and people who are qualified to advise and help us run our Horses Helping Humans program.Horses Helping Humans is a project aimed at anyone or group who may benefit from the therapeutic power of horses. The project caters to people suffering from anxiety, stress, addiction recovery, carers and their families, people dealing with difficult circumstances, seniors who are in need of a sense of community, people facing barriers to employment, people who are homeless, vulnerable youth and children and adults with physical limitations such as cerebral palsy, stroke and head injuries. All our sessions are tailored to individual needs, capabilities and aims.Our sessions cover a range of activities with the horses and our horse rescue farm. Our aim is for participants to enjoy building a trusting partnership with the horse, while learning new skill overcoming obstacles that will help them in their daily lives.We are also in need of horse friendly people to help care and advocate for our horses as well as people to help with social media marketing, fundraising, bookkeeping, corporate sponsorship, grant writing and other administrative duties.
