About Asian Law Alliance

Since a group of law students from Santa Clara University founded the Asian Law Alliance to provide legal assistance to the Asian Pacific Islander communities over three decades ago, the Asian Law Alliance, a non-profit organization, has become the cornerstone legal services provider for the Asian/ Pacific Islander community within Santa Clara County. Over the past 35 years, the Asian Law Alliance has helped tens of thousands of people in obtaining decent housing, justice in the immigration process, and access to basic human and legal rights.Today, not only the Asian/Pacific Islanders but also other communities of need continue to be denied fundamental rights. ALA continues to keep its doors open for those individuals who are limited in English, who do not understand the legal system, who cannot afford legal fees and who face the reality of discrimination. ALA has three main areas of focus: direct services designed to make legal services accessible to low-income people; community education to prevent legal crisis through awareness; and community organizing and impact work to address significant issues in the community.ALA provides services in Vietnamese, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Korean, and Japanese.
