About this opportunity

Looking for a way to assist your community in times of disaster?
Would you enjoy engaging with others through learning opportunities such as CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, and other classes given here by the Florida Department of Health in Marion County? Access a wide range of classes through FEMA’s online training portal.
Our Medical Reserve Corps volunteers have been active since 2006 working alongside our staff in many endeavors. One of our greatest needs is helping to staff our Special Needs Shelter during a hurricane. We need both medical and non-medical staff to lend support to shelter clients. Having to leave your home with a few belongings and medical equipment is quite stressful. A comforting hand and voice can make a big difference.
All our volunteers go through background screenings, orientation, and basic trainings to assure our vulnerable community is protected.
