They are, also, looking for acceptance, an ultimate spiritual source and for dignity.Spirituality is awareness and connection to a higher power or divine presence, a harmonious relationship or a connection with self, nature, or community; -enabling a person to discover the essence of their being.VITAS Volunteers can assist with spiritual care by:Being present with the patient and familyListening with sensitivity and opennessHonoring and respect the patient’s faith traditionsEncouraging practice of spiritual rituals such as meditation, scripture reading or prayerRemember, all members of the VITAS team provide spiritual support.
