Volunteers help with sorting and packing foodstuffs including fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery and canned goods for needy persons who appear at the agency. Additional duties might include light warehouse work, picking up donated goods in an agency vehicle, and if experienced, interviewing prospective clients. Volunteer shifts are generally Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM. A typical day sees 20 to 25 volunteers on site and distributes food to 50+ families. So there is a community of volunteers you will see again and again, and you will be makiing the world a better place for dozens of families each day.
About Leesburg Food Bank, Inc.
A volunteer managed and operated 501(c)(3) food pantry serving needy families in the Leesburg, Fruitland Park, Lady lake, and Okahumpka communities since 1982. We provide services without regard to race or religious affiliation at no charge to our clients. Food programs include supplemental family food, nutritional support for needy students, Holiday meals, and assistance in restocking a household pantry after a family disaster.
