Portland Marathon Course Cleanup Volunteer Event

Help us ensure one of Portland's premier running events leaves a positive impact on our community! SOLVE is seeking 20 dedicated volunteers to join our traveling cleanup team following the 2026 Portland Marathon on Sunday, October 4.
As thousands of runners make their way through the course, volunteers will work behind the final participants to collect discarded water cups, sports drink containers, clothing, and other event-related litter. Our mission is simple: leave the marathon course cleaner than we found it!
Volunteers will travel in sections of the course and be transported as cleanup progresses behind the last runner, making this a unique opportunity to see the marathon from a different perspective while supporting a cleaner, more sustainable event.

Time: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Volunteers Needed: 20
Meeting Location: Portland Waterfront Park, 1000 SW Naito Pkwy (Dedie & Morgan to finalize meetup location)
Parking
Parking is available in nearby downtown garages. Please allow at least 45 minutes to park and walk to the volunteer meeting location. See the Portland Marathon Parking Map for recommended parking facilities and rates.
What to Wear/Bring: Wear your most comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and your enthusiasm for keeping Portland beautiful. All cleanup supplies, safety equipment, and a brief orientation will be provided before heading out on the course.
