Wonderful Volunteers! We need your help!We have a major shortage of human grade dog food available for the dogs in our care : (As a result, we need an extra push from our volunteer doggie chefs to make food for the pups in time for our March 15th Adoption Event!Doggie Chefs -If you are interested in being one of our doggie chefs, here are the recipes we use.Beef and Rice RecipeIngredients:2 Cups Plain white rice (sushi/long grain, basmati)4 Pounds ground Beef*Small Bag of Frozen Organic Peas and CarrotsUse the leanest ground beef you can get (90% lean to 96% lean preferred)Instructions:Cook rice in a pot, water should cover the rice 3 inches. Bring to Boil and stir.Add meat/veggies in raw stir in well put on lid and simmer.Simmer until water is absorbed.Let cool, portion into small ziplock bags (sandwich size) and freezeChicken and Rice RecipeIngredients:2 Cups Plain white rice (sushi/long grain, basmati)2 Pounds ground Chicken2 Pounds ground TurkeySmall Bag of Frozen Organic Peas and CarrotsSubstitutions:If chicken is not available 4 Cups of Turkey in total is fine.Can add 1 pound of extra lean beef.Instructions:Cook rice in a pot, water should cover the rice 3 inches. Looking to help out and make some new friends along the way?We need Standby Volunteers daily!Emergency Volunteers/Stand By'sThis may seem like the least helpful, but actually our stand-by's always save us & the dogs! We need you!You give us the days and times you are available and we add you to a list. Then, if something comes up that day- you will be the first one we call. This helps us reach out to volunteers with availability that day instead of calling our entire volunteer list. If there is a day, half a day, or even a few hours you can volunteer to be placed on a "call in case of an emergency" list, let us know! This can be for many different tasks, and almostalways requires some driving. We try very hard to plan things in advance, but if there is a last minute opportunity to save a life, get a dog adopted, or a foster emergency, it helps to have a handful of people we reach out to first!We are in desperate need of standby volunteers!Can't help with this but still want to volunteer? We can always use extra hands:-Emergency fosters-Long term fosters-Temp tests for dogs in shelters-Transporters (taking dogs to appointments/park/foster)-Event volunteers-House check volunteers
