Dog Therapy for Hospice Patients

Did you know that it has been found that petting or cuddling an animal can reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and ease depression? Help us provide this special and rewarding service to our hospice patients. Join our Dog Therapy team! This opportunity is available weekly, biweekly, or monthly depending on your schedule. Allelon Hospice has a volunteer opportunity for individuals and their gentle, well-behaved pets to visit hospice patients in facility settings and occasionally private homes in Pueblo, Co. Pets must be at least one year old, current on their veterinary vaccines, and must be "interviewed" by our staff. To be considered, animals must be certified through a pet therapy organization. Proof of certification will be required to volunteer.You will be provided Hospice 101 training, ongoing one-on-one staff support throughout your service with us and will be invited to voluntary education opportunities and appreciation events.If you have any questions, or need further information please call 719-242-0043."We don’t always need advice.
