Position Summary:
The Elder Support Group Facilitator is a volunteer role that supports the development and facilitation of peer-led support groups for older adults in senior living communities and apartment settings. This role helps build meaningful connection, reduce isolation, and actively contributes to shaping the structure, topics, and activities of the support program.
Key Responsibilities:
Help develop and shape elder support group topics, activities, and structure.
Lead or co-lead support group sessions for older adults.
Provide input on what topics are most meaningful and needed in the community.
Create a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive group environment.
Encourage conversation, peer connection, and shared support.
Assist with simple planning and organization of group sessions.
Help evaluate what is working well and suggest improvements.
Communicate community needs and feedback to the Elder Support.
Advocate or staff.
Maintain confidentiality and respect participant privacy.
Skills & Qualities:
Compassionate, patient, and community-minded.
Strong listening and communication skills.
Comfortable engaging with older adults.
Willing to share ideas and help shape a growing program.
Dependable and respectful of others’ experiences.
No formal experience required - training and support provided.
