Clinic Assistance at Pediatric Therapy Facility

Volunteers assist with the cleanliness, organization, and functionality of the facility's treatment spaces. Admin assistance tasks and treatment planning may be assigned as well depending on the individual's experience and strengths.This position can be self-scheduled or scheduled with a recurring commitment within the working hours of the equine staff: M-Th 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm.Qualifications:There is no age limit for this position, but individuals under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult when volunteering.Attend an orientation session to familiarize yourself with the clinic and our programs.Able to work as a team with other volunteers and staff members.Willing to learn and follow DST procedures and policies.Able to accept constructive feedback and follow direction from DST staff members.Responsibilities:Check in at the Volunteer Center and view daily schedules and announcements.Check task list in the clinic to asses what the daily needs are.Complete tasks that are appropriate to your level of training and ask for clarification from a staff member when necessary.Check items off of the list that are completed.Check back out at the end of the shift to record hours volunteered.

Our patients receive unique treatment that combines traditional occupational, physical and speech therapies with therapeutic benefits of equine movement, a unique sensory gym, off-site aquatic therapy, and the compassionate support of skilled, certified therapists. The term hippotherapy refers to how occupational therapy, physical therapy and speech-language pathology professionals use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning in the purposeful manipulation of equine movement as a therapy tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote functional outcomes.
