Visitation Supervisor

In this role, you will provide on-site supervision during family visits, observe parent-child interactions, and take notes to document the visit.The families you will work with have entered foster care due to poverty-related circumstances and addiction (we do not accept abuse cases). Supervisors play a vital role in providing a safe, consistent, and welcoming environment as families work toward reunification.Scheduling:Visits take place at Family Connection Center, 4344 S. Fremont Ave., Springfield, MO 65804Volunteers are ideally scheduled 1 day per week for 2 hours, at the same day/time each week (However, we do have bi-weekly or fill-in options)You’ll be paired with the same family to provide stability and a familiar, friendly faceWhat does a visit look like?A typical visit begins with foster parents dropping off the child(ren). The parents then have two hours to spend with their child, which may include eating a meal together, playing games inside or outside, doing arts and crafts, or watching a movie. During this time, the supervisor observes and may help engage the family in activities.This is a meaningful opportunity to support children and families while gaining valuable experience in family dynamics and child welfare.
About Family Connection Center
Family Connection Center (FCC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing a safe space and supervision for family visitation for families in the foster care system working toward reunification. We specifically work with families who have entered care due to poverty-related circumstances and addiction. Our goal is to support family preservation whenever possible by providing a safe environment, offering resources, and connecting families with community support.We are currently seeking committed, compassionate volunteers to serve as Visitation Supervisors. This role is vital-our volunteers provide on-site supervision during visits between children and their parents, ensuring safety while helping families work toward reunification.While that is our primary volunteer role, FCC also offers a wide range of other opportunities for those with a heart to help but who may have a different skill set or interest. These include areas such as social media management, community engagement, website support, transportation assistance, and donation collection/driving.
